Our Pastor

Pastor, George L. Russell, II was born in Cincinnati, OH, September 3, 1972, to George Sr. and Veree Russell. The oldest of 3 children, as a child he had a strong sense of God’s hand and direction on his life. He found fulfillment in service as an Altar Server at his Family Church, Annunciation. As a teenager, he found that the priesthood was not for him, leading to a decade long disconnect from organized religion.

In 1995, he married his high school sweetheart, Anna Binford.  Following the birth of their fourth Child George started attending church regularly and participating in ministries at Allen Temple AMEC, where his young family were already members. In March 2007, George decided to unite with the congregation under the leadership of Rev. Mark Thompson. He desired to supply his family with a solid spiritual foundation that included family participation in the service of God.
George felt God calling him in to deeper ministry, under the pastoral mentor ship of Pastor Alphonse Allen, Jr. He preached his trial sermon in August of 2012. In October 2015, Pastor Russell accepted his first pastoral assignment. In his 5th year pastoring, he is Currently the proud Pastor of the, Historic Brown Chapel AMEC.

Rev. George Russell’s pastoral work is driven by his ministry mission, “If you pour, God will supply”. He holds to the scripture 1 Peter 5:2 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;.
