What’s New with Children’s Ministry at Brown Chapel AME Church

March 2015

Children’s Ministry at Brown Chapel AME keeps right on “Marching” along

Under the leadership and vision of our new Pastor, Reverend James H. Stowe, our Children’s Ministry is expanding. There are many adventures to explore and lots of fun lessons to learn. We invite you to join us and be a part of our family.

Our children are counting the days from Lent to Easter. Each child received a paper cross with the numbers 1-40 on it.  Starting on Ash Wednesday, they will mark out a number, not including Sundays, until they reach the number 1. During the count down, they will learn about the story of Easter and the events of Holy Week, and make some crafts.  We are also planning to have children memorize and recite Easter poems and verses to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

We have talked about Richard Allen and Jarena Lee. As we look into the history of the AME Church, we will explore the sources of the beliefs and sacraments.

Each student receives a Children’s Ministry church bag and is expected to bring it with them every Sunday. This way they can bring their papers and crafts home.  Parents can become involved by asking about their lessons and what they learned.  Sometimes they might even have some homework or papers for you to sign.  As you can see, this ministry involves the parents as well.

Our doors are always open to you. We look to seeing you and your family members at our home of worship.  By doing so, perhaps our home can become your home as well!
